About Cody

Cody is a husband, a father, a successful business owner, and a community leader. Cody was born and raised in the Grand Valley and is a fifth-generation native. His great-great-grandparents moved to the Western Slope in the early 1900’s in search of opportunity. They found it as farm hands and eventually built for themselves a life with dignity. Cody is a product of opportunity and will continue fighting to maintain the values that make Mesa County the phenomenal place it is to live and ensure that opportunity is available and abundant.

Cody and his wife, Alana, have five beautiful children. They have served as foster parents for over 13 years and count it a blessing to have adopted three children.

Cody values hard work, diligence, and honesty. He started his own business in 2009 in one of the worst economies in the last 40 years. As a small business owner building homes and employing hundreds of people, Cody has brought his extensive knowledge of land use to help simplify the land development code and help constituents understand their own property rights. He also prioritized the hiring and retention of high-quality county employees as they are the backbone of the services constituents receive.

His passions are faith, family, business, outdoor recreation, and community. His roots are deep and he wants to serve the community with the same levels of determination and success that he demonstrates in life.

These values drove Cody to public service, and in order to best serve Mesa County citizens and its future, he ran for county commissioner to protect and improve the quality of life for his friends and neighbors.

Cody’s first term as commissioner was marked with strategic investments in roads, bridges, broadband, and broader infrastructure to make sure people have the ability and opportunity to pursue their American dream.
